IOWA AUTHOR LINDA BETSINGER MCCANN TALKS PROHIBITION IN EASTERN IOWA MAY 2

The Center Point Library will host Shell Rock grandma Linda Betsinger McCann. Years ago sge started writing down Eastern Iowa history stories so her grandkids wouldn’t be ignorant of their past. She’s never quit writing for them and, luckily, for the rest of us.She’ll be at the Center Point Library Community Room Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m. doing a free program about her book “Prohibition in Eastern Iowa.

Garrison 1st Responders Fundraising Spaghetti Supper and Auction, April 2

The Garrison 1st Responders will hold a Spaghetti Dinner and Auction on Saturday, April 2. Doors will open at the Garrison Emergency Servcices building at 5:00 p.m. with dinner being served at 5:30 pm. A Silent Auction will be held until 6:30 p.m. with the Live Auction beginning at 7:00 p.m.The cost for the meal will be $10 for Adults and $5 for Children 12 & Under.

Vinton Class of 1960 class reunion date set for September 17

Vinton's Class of 1960 will hold their 60th Class Reunion, on Saturday, September 17th at noon at the Pizza Ranch in Vinton. Join the Garrison Lions this Saturday at the Garrison Emergency Center for their Beef & Noodles Supper. Serving will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. There will be dine-in and drive-through options available. The menu will be homemade Beef & Noodles, green beans, a roll, and fruit. Meals are available for a free-will donation.All proceeds support local scholarships, community events, and community groups.

This Friday, March 25, from 4-7 the Vinton Fire Department will be holding their Fish Fry Fundraiser at the fire station. *Free-will donation*Our annual fish fry fundraiser serving our hand-breaded fried fish, coleslaw, baked beans, dinner roll, and a great selection of homemade desserts. Dine-in or carry-out available.Proceeds will be added to the funds required to replace our current Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that are nearing the end of the NFPA compliant lifespan.

Eco-Extravaganza: Feelin' the Heat with the BCC April 23

On Saturday, April 23 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Benton County Conservation will be holding an Eco-Extravaganza at the Benton County Conservation Center located at 5718 20th Ave. Dr., Vinton.Smokey the Bear will be there... Dementia Live will be hosted at the Vinton Public Library March 29

On Tuesday, March 29th at 10 a.m a program that will be geared toward caregivers, Home Care Assistance at the Vinton Public Library. Home Care Assistance will lead an interactive program that helps attendees understand the challenges of living with dementia.
